The result of a collaboration between L’Atelier du Vin and German glassmaker Stölzle Lausitz, “Exploreur 655” brings a new approach to the wine-tasting glass.

Together with German glassmaker Stölzle Lausitz, L’Atelier du Vin has created “Exploreur 655”, a universal tasting glass designed for sommeliers and wine enthusiasts alike. This creation combines research, design and glassmaking expertise to enhance the expression of aromas, while offering excellent stability and a comfortable grip. Blown in Germany, this exceptional new glass is made from fully recyclable, lead-free crystal. Its ultra-thin bowl, particularly lightweight stem and dishwasher compatibility meet the demands of both everyday and professional use. Each glass is a unique piece made by Stölzle Lausitz, whose glassmaking expertise dates back to 1889. Its distinctive feature is the “Aroma Rib”, a French invention protected by an international patent. Coated with microbeads, it helps release aromatic molecules when the wine is set in motion inside the glass. The most prominent aromas gain in intensity, while the more subtle and complex notes are revealed with greater precision. The tasting experience unfolds in two stages. The “first nose”, without swirling the wine, allows the most volatile aromas to be perceived. The “second nose” comes after swirling the wine in the glass. As it comes into contact with the “Aroma Rib”, interaction with the air intensifies, making the bouquet more expressive and the aromas easier to identify with precision. This innovation draws inspiration from a phenomenon observed in nature. Like sea spray forming when waves break against rocks, the interaction between the wine and the air is intensified to encourage the expression of aromas. This principle was developed by a group bringing together wine experts, designers and master glassmakers.
