The little gourmet by Opinel passing on the taste for good table manners from the very start
In fall 2025, Opinel unveils “the little gourmet,” an ingenious new product designed to awaken young palates. This cutlery set, created for children, marks a new chapter in the Opinel universe: after the pocket knife and the “petit chef” – now a global reference – the brand is extending its support to the youngest at the table. True to its values of transmission, quality, and innovation, the Savoyard brand is enriching its range with products that grow with children, from the garden to the plate.

The signature of this new product is a round clip made of recycled plastic reinforced with glass fiber, which holds the iconic Opinel sheath. This clever clip makes it easy to snap the cutlery together and store it neatly: a quick click ensures stability, flexibility, and a tactile marker for children’s hands. Simple yet ingenious, it transforms a daily gesture into a fun learning experience.
Since its beginnings, Opinel has stood out for its century-old know-how and authentic identity that connects tradition and innovation. With “the little gourmet,” the brand offers tools that are playful and comfortable, tailored to children’s needs, and reassuring for parents. The three-piece set includes a knife, a fork, and a round-tipped spoon, designed to accompany every stage of learning.
Around age 2, the fork becomes the ideal tool for independence; by age 3, children master the spoon; and by age 5, the knife is introduced, with a safe blade and moderated sharpness for self-use. The set comes in a recyclable cardboard box, 100% eco-friendly. Each piece combines the charm of varnished beechwood sourced from sustainably managed forests (PEFC-certified) with contemporary materials.
Playful, comfortable, and stylish for children; educational, durable, and practical for parents – this set fully embodies Opinel’s timeless values. The three colorful sheath designs (olive, blue, wood) and the packaging, created by Lyon-based design studio Bureau 205, add a fun and responsible touch. Recommended retail price: €29 including tax, available from October 2025.
“COSMOS” a collection between sky and creation
Every two years, Opinel imagines an artistic collection in collaboration with young talents. In 2025, the fifth edition of this special series is entitled “cosmos,” an ode to the sky, to infinity, and to the gentle vertigo that comes from lifting our eyes to dream. The cosmos inspires as much as it questions. It evokes the invisible, the mysterious, and the silent beauty of the universe.
It is this connection between humankind and the vastness of the cosmos that Opinel celebrates with this new collection, brought to life by the imagination of Dalkhafine, Benjamin Jeanjean, and Asie, three French artists with unique sensibilities. Conceived as both a tribute to contemplation and inner exploration, this limited series represents the meeting point between the brand’s traditional savoir-faire and the poetic world of contemporary creation. Each model is produced in 8,200 numbered pieces. Recommended retail price: €42 and €46 including tax.
New! the neo 6 black an everyday knife with a bold style
After the launch of the neo 6 earlier this year, Opinel expands its new line of pocket knives designed for everyday use. Compact, lightweight, and equipped with the patented “opifixe” mechanism, this model reinterprets the iconic Savoyard pocket knife, smoothly locking in both open and closed positions, without a traditional safety ring.
In fall 2025, the brand introduces a “black” edition with a bold style, featuring an elegant dark finish, enhanced by blackened beechwood scales, a matte black stainless-steel blade, and a PVD-coated finish. With its 7 cm blade, this pocket knife combines strength, modern design, and functionality. At once timeless and contemporary, it becomes the perfect everyday companion. Recommended retail price: €35 including tax.
