Brand anniversaries provide retailers with valuable opportunities to create excitement and drive sales. To mark its 75th anniversary, Zyliss is giving its retail partners access to a comprehensive communications package designed to showcase the brand’s heritage while supporting sell-through. Entitled “75 Years of Kitchen Innovation”, the international campaign also coincides with Zyliss’s return to Maison&Objet, where the brand will unveil a new visual identity and stand concept, while strengthening its relationships with retailers through direct management of the French market.
Founded in Switzerland in 1951, Zyliss is celebrating 75 years of innovation. The story, however, began a few years earlier. Passionate about mechanics, design and engineering, Karl Zysset invented the world’s first garlic press in 1948 by adapting the mechanism of a bicycle brake. Called “Susi”, the new utensil made it possible to press garlic without getting your fingers dirty and proved an immediate success. Three years later, Zysset founded Zyliss in Lyss. The brand went on to expand its range with products that would become landmarks in kitchen preparation. Launched in 1953, the “Zick Zick” manual food chopper became a true icon. Its famous 1970s television commercial has even been specially restored to celebrate the brand’s 75th anniversary.
Another major innovation followed in 1978, when Zyliss introduced the first salad spinner that could both wash and dry leaves in a single container. Ever since, the brand has pursued the same goal: combining Swiss precision, functional design and innovation to make everyday kitchen tasks simpler and more intuitive, with products designed to last. Today, this vision is summed up in its signature: “Design for people. Design from tradition. Design for tomorrow.”
AN ANNIVERSARY CAMPAIGN DESIGNED WITH RETAILERS IN MIND
To help its partners make the most of the anniversary, Zyliss has developed a comprehensive marketing toolkit. Retailers have access to a dedicated visual identity, campaign imagery, product photography, historical archive material, anniversary stickers, web banners and content tailored for websites, marketplaces and social media.
READY-TO-USE IN-STORE MATERIALS
Zyliss has also put together an extensive range of ready-to-use materials for in-store activations. Furniture graphics, roll-up banners, posters, countertop signs, tabletop displays, packaging stickers and ready-to-print recipe cards give retailers everything they need to showcase the brand’s 75th anniversary in store. The campaign also extends across digital channels, with a dedicated web page, anniversary videos, content featuring the iconic “Zick Zick” and animated GIFs for social media.
BACKED BY DK HOUSEHOLD BRANDS
Zyliss is now part of DK Household Brands, a company belonging to the Swiss Diethelm Keller Group. Based in Zurich, the company operates in more than fifty countries and distributes directly in several major markets, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland. Its portfolio includes several well-known kitchenware brands, including Cole & Mason, AdHoc, Culinare and Zyliss. Zyliss’s stronger presence in France – with the market now managed directly and the brand returning to Maison&Objet – is fully aligned with its international growth strategy, built around innovation, quality and closer relationships with retailers.
